With Bryson DeChambeau withdrawing on Monday morning due to a lingering wrist injury, I’ve replaced The Big Golfer with another big golfer for the No. 10 spot in the power rankings.

The hot hand, Sepp Straka, gets the nod after earning his first PGA Tour victory at the Honda Classic.

Once Daniel Berger squandered his five-shot lead on Sunday, Straka was there waiting to take over.

The Austrian birdied three of his last five holes, including the par-5 18th, to win by one at PGA National over Shane Lowry.

He got it done with rounds of 71-64-69-66.

It’s been a journey for the 28-year-old to get to this point. He moved from Vienna, Austria, to Valdosta, Georgia, at age 14 and ended up at the University of Georgia.

Modest stints on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour preceded his big day on Sunday.

Changes to his swing before New Years seem to have done the trick.

Straka has made all six cuts in 2022 with top-20s against tougher fields than the Honda at the Farmers Insurance Open (T-16th) and Genesis Invitational (T-15th).

“Yeah. I switched probably in — it was really December. Yeah, we definitely didn’t reinvent my swing. My swing is still my swing, but just kind of refined it a little bit and just — yeah, just tried to get the kinks out and just tried to keep it in those parameters” Straka was transcribed by ASAP Sports.

Straka is making his second start at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He missed the cut in 2020.
