2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational: Top 10 power rankings at Bay Hill
Billy Horschel is teeing it up in his home state. While he hasn’t had as much success as he’d like at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, it’s not like he’s been scrapping it around Bay Hill over the last decade.
Playing this event every year since 2013, Billy Ho had never missed a cut until 2021.
Prior, he had a couple top-20s and three more top-50s.
The former Florida Gator’s top finish was in 2017 when he fired 72-73-67-72 for T-13th.
“I grew up 45 minutes from here,” the Grant, Florida native who now resides in Jacksonville said in an ASAP Sports transcription, “so it means a lot for me to play well here in front of family and friends and Gator Nation type deal, so there’s a lot that goes into me wanting to play well.”
The bigger reason for Horschel’s inclusion in my top 10 is his recent form. Horschel doesn’t usually play his best golf during the West Coast Swing. Nevertheless, he posted T-11th at the Farmers Insurance Open and T-6th at the WM Phoenix Open.
That form carried over to last week’s Honda Classic where he made his 10th straight worldwide cut en route to T-16th. He recorded three rounds of par or better at PGA National and was fifth in the field in strokes gained off the tee (3.492) and SG approach (5.76).
The 35-year-old ranks 22nd on the PGA Tour in SG off the tee (.481) and 13th in SG putting (.679).
Horschel is long overdue for a top 10 at the API. I see it coming this week.
