Matt Fitzpatrick just keeps piling up high finishes.

He’ll be ruing the missed opportunity at the PGA Championship where he was in the final pairing before settling for T-5th. Nonetheless, it was still an impressive effort at Southern Hills for his seventh worldwide top-10 in 2022.

“It’s tough obviously to take,” Fitzpatrick was transcribed by ASAP Sports. “Just didn’t hit very well. Wasn’t a good day, and yeah, just disappointing knowing that you’re two shots outside of a playoff and you feel like you’ve got the game kind of — well, to make the playoff and go on to win, really.”

Fitzpatrick also came close to his first PGA Tour victory when he was T-2nd recently at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Fitzpatrick also took T-14th at the Masters, so he is finding a way to bring his best out against stiff competition.

The Englishman has some past success at Muirfield Village.

He’s 3-for-4 making the cut on property, including solo third (75-66-74-68) at the 2020 Memorial Tournament. Fitzy was the only player to break 70 in the final round that year.

The 27-year-old leads the PGA Tour in total strokes gained (2.157). He’s done well to add length off the tee and throughout the bag. Fitzpatrick is up from 293.5 yards driving (127th) to 297.1 (116th).

He’s also in the top 30 in every strokes gained statistic, displaying a well-roundedness that’s helping him compete more consistently week in and week out.

Fitzpatrick ranks fourth in scoring average (69.357) and seventh in sand saves (64.52%).
