And We Wait

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Today Lexi Thompson formally petitioned the LPGA and its commish Michael Whan to waive the age requirement in order to gain privileges on the LPGA Tour. I have already voiced how I feel Thompson should be granted such status. It does come with a little bit of reservation. Just a little. While Whan is fully aware of the impact granting Thompson full status will have on ladies golf, he must be leary of that dreaded burnout factor. If he were to refuse Thompson’s request, this may be a part or all of his reasoning. And that honestly must be taken [...]

Ins and Outs of the FedEx Cup

AUTHOR: | IN: FedEx Cup Playoffs, PGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Certainly yesterday held a tremendous amount of pressure for some players. Many questions would be asked? Do I have to make up any more positions in order to advance? Who has to drop shots for me to have a chance? While it’s never good to wish ill-will upon a fellow player (you know, all that “karma’s a…”), you have to wonder if just once a player wasn’t saying (to himself) “miss it”. Probably not. If you were in a position to be sent home or advancing on to East Like, you only had one person to blame…yourself. Brandt Snedeker took [...]

Blake Overcomes Trio for Win in Korea

AUTHOR: | IN: Champions Tour | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Be honest here. If you had to bet on who would win the playoff between, John Cook, Mark O’Meara, Peter Senior and Jay Don Blake, Blake may have been the last of your choices. I mean the other three are in the top 10 in the Charles Schwab points. Cook has three wins, O’Meara owns 8 top 10′s along 2 second place finishes. Senior has 10 top 10′s, 3 second place finishes and a third. Yes, quite a trio to overcome, but Blake did so for his first tournament win since, get this, 1991. But there’s just a little more [...]

Thompson Looking for History

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

She’s only 16, yet Lexi Thompson is looking to pull off a feat for the books: youngest to win an LPGA event. And she is well on her way. Maybe the remarkable part of all of this is that Thompson is doing it in a four-round tournament. The Navistar LPGA Classic is not a major, but it is constructed as such in length. And this is just the beginning. If Thompson hasn’t turned the heads of doubters after her first three rounds, she will never until she wins a tournament. In a field chock full of ranked players, she’s leaving [...]
