Player of the Year Vote Delayed
So the PGA decided to delay its voting for Player of the Year another two weeks. Ballots will not be issued until after the WGC-HSBC Champions. Why was this decision made? If you listen and read to anyone associated with the PGA, this decision is, for lack of a better term, ridiculous. So let me (attempt to) understand this correctly… The WGC-HSBC will be recognized as a PGA win if the winner is a member of the PGA TOUR. Got that. The money part; however, is unofficial and does not get added to a player’s earnings. Wait… The win counts, [...]

Who is Your PGA Player of the Year?
Since the days of yore, er, um, Tiger domination, the PGA TOUR hasn’t really had that one dominant player. Same hold true for 2011 which makes trying to figure out the Player of the Year even more distressing. If you stress over that sort of thing, that is. Well, I did a bit. Here’s a look at some of those up for the award or names I’ve head mentioned for it.
Weekend Wrap-Up
This weekend was filled with firsts and a frank… PGA: Frys.com Open I’m sure you’ve all heard about Tiger Woods having a hotdog launched (somewhat) at him by a spectator during his final round. That was not the order of business during the last round of the Frys.com Open. A first time winner was in the works… Briny Baird and Bryce Molder headed to a playoff after each finished their 72 holes with matching scores of 267, 17-under-par. Molder fired a 64 while Baird carded a 67. The playoff? It only went six holes and both had opportunities, but Molder [...]
‘…It Was Just a Downward Spiral.’
That was part of a quote from Tiger Woods following his opening round 2-over 73 on Thursday at the Frys.com Open. That was due his woes on the greens…when he could find them. When you look at Tiger’s stats from his round, you can’t help but wonder how he didn’t score higher. Again, a downward spiral. He manged to hit only 7 of 14 fairways and only 9 of the 18 greens in regulation. You would also think 27 putts wasn’t all that bad until you consider one thing. Woods only made one putt over 6 feet. That created a [...]

Weekend Review
Here’s a snapshot of this weekend’s action on the tours… Na Nets a Win…Finally After being on the PGA TOUR for eight years, Kevin Na has a trophy to put in his case for winning a tournament. Na fired a final round 6-under-par 65 and held off Nick Watney to capture the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin. Na, who was tied going into the final round with Watney, only posted four bogeys all week in birdie conditions at the course in Las Vegas. Na easily surpassed his best finish of the year which had been [...]
