Matt Kuchar Awarded Cadillac A Whole Week After Hole-In-One
Matt Kuchar won a car for getting an ace at Sheshan, but the prize came later than expected because of changes to the par-3 17th hole.
Matt Kuchar nailed a hole-in-one in last week’s WGC-HSBC Champions tournament and was supposed to win a car. However, due to playing conditions, the par-3 17th was turned into a 193 yard hole.
This is below the 200-yard minimum in order to win the car. But, finally, after a whole week, it was decided that he earned it according to PGATour.com.
Here’s the ace:

Now, certainly, Kuhcar has made enough dough to buy several Cadillacs, but it’s still a nice achievement to join the list of others who have made an ace to win a car.
Kuchar’s caddie, John Wood, had told him that the hole-in-one wouldn’t count so they didn’t even think about it. But little did they know, Kuchar would still end up winning the car anyway.
In large part, it seems like it’s because he is such a well liked player on the PGA Tour and is adored by fans. Makes you wonder if it was someone else that wasn’t quite as popular as Kuchar, would they have still been awarded the Cadillac?
Who knows, but Kuchar can add a shiny new car in a year where he won a bronze medal in the Olympics and helped team USA win their first Ryder Cup since 2008.
He’s almost accomplished it all, but he’s still searching for the elusive major which many would believe is only a matter of time before one falls his way.
Certainly, if the Chicago Cubs can win a World Series after a 108 year drought, Kuchar can break the major wall of golf. He’s definitely one of the streakiest players in the world, and can catch fire real quick.
But, he just can’t finish the job at times. And he’s been fairly quiet in the majors themselves.
It’s pretty similar to the career of Jim Furyk. He is one of the best golfers of the last 20 years or so, winning 27 tournaments worldwide.
Despite this, Furyk only earned won major which was his famous U.S. Open win at Olympia Fields in 2003. The man could have easily won more with his talents. After all, he is the only player ever to shoot both a 59 and a 58 in his career.
Kuchar’s best finish in a major was at the 2012 Masters where he finished in third place. If he can heat up like a microwave on the weekend, he definitely may have a shot at a major during the new season.
But, the competition is still insanely fierce so it’ll be extremely difficult. The question isn’t if Kuchar can get hot, it’s if he can get heat up at the right time which he is highly capable of doing.
Only our clocks and calendars can tell the tale. In the meantime, enjoy that car.
