Will Haru Nomua defend her Women’s Australian Open title or will a new champion emerge Sunday from one of these top-10 players in the 2017 field?

The 2017 Women’s Australian Open, co-sanctioned by the LPGA and the ALPG, is headlined by some of the most talented young players in women’s golf. Lydia Ko will begin her 2017 season at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club this week, and Ariy

a Jutanugarn and Brooke Henderson will both tee it up looking for their first win of the season.

Don’t overlook Australia’s golf Olympians, Minjee Lee and Su Oh. Playing on home soil, and in the company of their mentor, Hall of Famer Karrie Webb, I’m looking for Lee and Oh to make a very good showing for themselves this week.

Royal Adelaide will provide a proper test of the field’s skills. The open links-style course has hosted nine Open Championships of Australia and sixteen Amateur Championships of Australia as well as the Australian Ladies Amateur and Open Championships. The par-72 track will play 6681 yards this week.

Royal Adelaide’s wide open spaces are deceptive. Natural dunes and additional bunkering combined with sloping ridges and angled greens provide the set-up for challenging gambles and precision shots. The long game advantage at Royal Adelaide will probably go to golfers with control and the ability to shape their shots rather than to the power hitters.

The weather will be perfect for golf in South Australia this week – daytime temperatures in the high 60s and mid-70s with light winds.

Now, let’s take a look at the top of the Women’s Australian Open field.
