Jim Mora, LPGA's Success, and Poulter's Website

facebooktwitterreddit

Tuesday is just one of those days. All the talk about the previous weekend’s action is starting to fade, and we haven’t really kicked in to full-fledged hype on the upcoming week’s action.

My solution to this? To talk about a whole lot of stuff.

Instead of narrowing it down to one topic today, let’s take a look at several interesting things going on in golf.

Playoffs!?

That’s right Jim, the FedEx Cup playoffs are upon as, as the Barclays get started on Thursday.

It’s good to see that Tiger Woods has committed to playing in the tournament, which will certainly help attendance and ratings a little bit, I’d say.

But when we talk about the FedEx playoffs, there is sometimes mass confusion between fans as to this whole scoring system. I, for one, have never really understood the entire concept. Some of it makes sense, while some of it does not.

Instead of me trying to explain it all, here’s a nice little FedEx Cup primer by Gary Van Sickle of Sports Illustrated.

And if you still want more information, just head over to PGATOUR.com and take a look at this year’s changes.

And well, if you’re still confused after all that, just keep watching the video above.

It always brings a smile to my face.

Don’t Underestimate LPGA Fans

Here’s an awesome article on the market for the women’s game, and how the Solheim Cup showed that the LPGA is still a hot commodity among its fans.

Look, I know there are a lot of LPGA haters out there. They say the game isn’t interesting, and there isn’t a Tiger-like star that is making people tune in and watch.

The latter may be true, but the former is not. If you give it a chance, the game is worth watching. Now, I will say that the former LPGA administration has a whole lot to do with the decreasing number of tournaments and number of fans. They were weak when it came to promoting the product. The players deserved much more than that.

All the traditionalists out there want to talk about how Christina Kim‘s behavior was out of line at the Solheim Cup. Well guess what? It brought out the best in the fans. She got them excited, and it made for an excellent three days in Chicago.

Oh, but wait. They are professionals, right? They aren’t suppose to look like they are having fun out there, are they?

Corrigan’s quote in that article was spot-on when he talks about it being these ladies living their dream at the Solheim Cup. So just because they become professionals, they aren’t suppose to show emotion when they do something they dreamed of for many years?

I could go on and on about this (and may just have a post in the next few days), but simply put, if we want to see the LPGA succeed, then we’ve got to lower our restraints a little bit, and start letting the players be themselves.

What a novel concept, huh?

A Website Unlike Any Other…..The Poulter’s

Does one know what the perfect website looks like? I doubt any of us have ever thought of a website as being “perfect.”

But folks, let me say this: Ian Poulter‘s new website is spectacular. And maybe as close to perfection as one can get.

It’s got it all. No really, it does.

You want to see what’s in Poulter’s golf bag? It’s there. You want to know everything there is to know about his favorite soccer team, Arsenal? It’s there. Want some golf tips, whether it be putting, driving, or wedge play? It’s there.

Heck, it’s even got IJP TV. Or, Ian James Poulter TV. You could probably spend countless hours watching that.

Let’s stop talking about it. Head over to Poulter’s website now! And let me know what you think when you finish. If you ever leave there, that is.

(Yeah, there was a reason I put this at the bottom. If it was at the top, then you would have clicked, and got lost in Poulter land. Pro Golf Now simply has nothing on Poulter-palooza. But I’d appreciate it if you still came back. That is of course, after you’ve checked out every club in Poulter’s bag.)
