Three LPGA Players to Show Some Major Skin?
By Blake Lovell
If the title wasn’t enough to grab your attention, here’s a nice little article over at GolfDigest.com that may catch your eye. Yep, we’re back to talking about how LPGA players choose to market themselves. Specifically, Sandra Gal, Christina Kim, and Anna Grzebien.
And yet again, I will defend the side that says unless they start doing things of a more hardcore nature, then I see no problems at all with this. It will help expose (no pun intended…or maybe so) the LPGA and its’ players, and I don’t see how this can be a bad thing.
It’s going to be featured in ESPN the Magazine, which is the magazine of the head honcho in the sports broadcasting world, and so lots and lots of people will see these players. Will it make them automatically tune into the women’s game every week? Maybe. Maybe not.
But again, in an organization that has been lacking in the marketing department in recent years, this can do nothing but help a game that has seen its’ fair share of bumps in the road this year.
People can criticize the ladies and all that, but those people clearly have no idea as to the state of the LPGA right now. They need all the exposure they can get, so this is another step in the right direction. And no, I’m not just saying that because I’m a male that likes to look at beautiful women in limited amounts of clothing. But not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I’m saying it because the LPGA needs the exposure, and having these three ladies in this magazine will do nothing but help increase the number of people who tune in to the women’s game every week.
I’d love to know what you think about this situation! Let me hear your thoughts in the comment section below.
