The FedEx Cup, and a US Open are the only two things missing from Phil Mickelson’s body of work for a career. If he intends to add this large check, and trophy to his collection, this needs to be the year. For the past few years, I had always felt that Lefty played too much golf during the early part of the season, and at his age, was not taking off enough weekends where he could be somewhat fresh for this part of the season.

It worked earlier when he set a record for six runner-up is the US Open, and then he went on to win the Scottish Open and the Open Championship in consecutive weekends. He has had a great year where with the three wins, only two on the PGA Tour, he has compiled six top tens to go with nine top 25 finishes.

Phil has had some success in the playoffs with a win at The Deutsche  Bank in the 2007 inagural season, and a win at The Tour finale’ in 2009. Both years were Championship wins for Tiger Woods.

Move over Tiger, I think this is the year for Phil Mickelson to win it all.
