Three weeks are in the books for the 2014-2015 PGA Tour season and it’s been a great season so far. We’ve had some great golf and some great finishes. Last year, the CIMB Classic finished in a playoff with Ryan Moore getting the best of Gary Woodland.
With the way this season has gone so far, don’t be surprised if we see another playoff this week. For the next three weeks the PGA Tour is going international starting this week at the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.
This week’s CIMB Classic fantasy sleeper picks are interesting because these are real true sleeper picks in a sense that they are very valuable picks and they aren’t exactly household names – except for one of them.

Also, each golfer I’ve picked are from a different country. So, it’s a real international flair. It’s going to be fun and keep in mind Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club is a short course and rain is in the area for all four days. With that in mind, let’s get to the picks this week.
K.J. Choi– We are starting off with K.J. Choi who is the recognizable name I was talking about earlier. K.J. Choi is making his 2014-2015 debut, just like last year Choi started his year at the CIMB Classic. Last year, at the CIMB Classic, K.J. Choi was solid all four days and finished in a tie for 14th.
Choi is a fantastic striker of the ball, just a machine that hits fairways and hits greens on a consistent basis. I’m surprised at how cheap he is given that he is a big name and given that his game fits here at the Kuala Lampur Golf & Country Club. Choi is a great value pick who should finish no worse than T-25.
Rikard Karlberg– Rikard Karlberg is the biggest value pick this week. The Swede had a very productive year last year on the European Tour playing in 13 tournaments making the cut in ten of those tournaments. During an 8 tournament stretch, from April to September, Karlberg missed zero cuts and finished in the top 25 in six of those tournaments.
The tournament I want to highlight, though, is the Malaysian Open. The Malaysian Open takes place in Kuala Lampur. Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club where the CIMB Classic this week is taking place.
Karlberg has a spotty history at the Malaysian Open, but given that the CIMB Classic has no cut, I think Karlberg has a lot of upside. This year, Karlberg finished T-5 and in 2012 he finished T-16. In 2013 and 2011 he missed the cut, but again with no cut this week, Karlberg can struggle for the first two rounds, but turn it on Saturday and Sunday and have a quality finish.
Prom Meesawat– I’m really liking Prom Meesawat this week. Meesawat is a solid veteran that has performed exceptionally well at the Malaysian Open over the past few years. In 2014, Meesawat finished T-24, in 2013: T-28, and in 2012: T-24.
Meesawat has been very solid and that’s in deeper fields. This week only 78 golfers will be teeing it up, so that really only benefits Meesawat. I really like Meesawat this week, of the four golfers I think he’ll have the best finish.
Anirban Lahiri– Anirban Lahiri is coming into this week feeling good after winning the Macau Open. In fact, Lahiri beat Prom Meesawat at the Macau Open by one stroke.
Lahiri is a very talented, young golfer that comes from India and already has five wins in his career over on the Asian Tour. Also, in 2012 he finished tied for 31st at The Open Championship.
This year at the Malaysian Open, Lahiri finished T-10. However, at the Malaysian Open from 2013 to 2010, Lahiri only made the cut once and it wasn’t that good of a finish, finishing T-52 in 2011. But, as we mentioned above, there is no cut this week so you can have a couple of below average rounds, but turn it on Saturday and Sunday. Lahiri is someone to watch out for this week and in the future; a very talented golfer.
