It’s a stacked leaderboard with a lot names and a lot of big numbers as conditions have been absolutely perfect after two rounds. Brandt Snedeker & Matt Jones Lead Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at 12-under par.

Justin Hicks, who co-led with J.B. Holmes after round one, is alone in third place at 11-under par. He shot a solid, 3-under 68 at the Monterey Peninsula. Not great, but not bad either, solid enough. He’ll play at Spyglass Hill for round three. Then we have a log jam at 10-under where which includes the FedExCup Champion Billy Horschel, last year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in Chesson Hadley, and this year’s leading candidate to win Rookie of the Year in Daniel Berger.

At 9-under par in a tie for 14th we have all the big names which include: Jim Furyk, Pat Perez, Daniel Summerhays, Nick Watney, and last week’s winner, Jason Day, who had the low round of the second round shooting a 9-under 62. After a mediocre 72 at Pebble Beach, Day bounced right back with a 62 at the Monterey Peninsula which put him right back in contention.

Other notable golfers include: Kevin Chappell and Jordan Spieth who reside in a tie for 19th at 8-under par; Dustin Johnson is 7-under for the tournament in a tie for 26th.

John Daly surprised everybody yesterday with a stunning bogey-free 7-under 65. Heading into the second round, Daly was playing on the Monterey Peninsula Country Club – the best scoring course of the three this weekend – but Daly couldn’t take advantage as he shot a 1-over 72. Daly now sits in a tie for 37th at 6-under par.

J.B. Holmes, who co-led after the first round, really struggled as he shot a 2-over 73 at the Monterey Peninsula. He’s going to be playing at Spyglass Hill for his third round. So, it looks as though he may struggle to make the cut.

One final note, don’t count out Jimmy Walker. J-Walk started his first round at Spyglass Hill and he was solid. He shot an even 72, but he did what he had to do for his second round at Pebble Beach finishing five-under 67.

For his third round he’ll be playing at the Monterey Peninsula and if he shoots a 6, 7, 8-under, he’ll be about 11, 12, 13-under for the tournament and right in thick of things for the final round. Walker maybe tied for 50th, but don’t count him out just yet. Let’s see what he does tomorrow.

All in all, It’s anybody’s tournament as we head into the weekend. Brandt Snedeker is in the driver’s seat though as he finished up Spyglass Hill with a bogey-free 5-under 67. Snedeker will be playing at Pebble Beach for the third round. So given Snedeker’s credentials, how he is playing this week, and what Snedeker has to play for, Sneds should be the favorite heading into the weekend.

If Snedeker does win, he’ll jump back into the top 50 of the all important Official World Golf Rankings. As of now, Snedeker isn’t eligible to play at the WGC-Cadiallac Championship, and the Masters this year.

We’ll see what happens, though, conditions should be ideal, once again, scores should be really low and when you give professionals perfect conditions on a perfect course, look out.
