The 19th Hole: U.S. Open Edition

facebooktwitterreddit

Welcome to the first edition of The 19th Hole! Sure the U.S. Open is going on and there’s a stacked leaderboard out Chambers Bay, but there’s plenty of stuff happening on and off the course that sometimes gets overlooked. That’s why we give you The 19th Hole, to get you caught up on everything you may miss out on when just watching the highlights of the round.

Let’s start things off with Tiger Woods. We all know Eldrick shot the worst consecutive rounds at a major in his career, but let’s look at some of the stuff he did besides playing crappy golf. As if things couldn’t get worse for the Big Cat, he had plenty of bloopers to add to his horrendous golf game.

HEADS UP!!!!

Whoa! The club went further than the ball! Did anyone happen to see the jeering fan from Happy Gilmore in the crowd at Chambers Bay?

Tiger Takes a Tumble

Not only will he fall outside the top 200 in world rankings after missing the cut at the U.S. Open, but Tiger also took a tumble during his second round.

Maybe he should have just stayed down for the count.

Jason Day Goes Down Under

Speaking of people falling down, it seems Chambers Bay is winning in terms of knockouts. First there was Tiger, then there was the Aussie Jason Day who was on the 9th hole, the final hole of his second round. Out of no where, Day collapsed and lay motionless as his caddies and playing partners, Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth, rushed over to him. Vertigo was cited as the cause for falling over, an issue he had been dealing with since last month. He would be alright, however, finishing up 2-under.

What in the world are you doing to these guys Mike Davis?

Changing 500!

While we’re on the topic, let’s talk about Mike Davis, executive director of the USGA.  The man has been popping up all over my T.V. screen this week as he tries to defend his set up of the tournament. Haven’t we seen this man somewhere before? Oh yes, that’s right, he’s the blackjack dealer from Vegas Vacation.

Here’s a picture of Davis, in case you haven’t seen him yet:

Damn You People, This Is Golf!

What would be a golf tournament without ol’ Bubba Watson complaining? Bubba got pretty frustrated in his first round, which took five hours to complete. After a long wait on the par 5 18th, Bubba decided he would just go for the green on his approach shot. Things didn’t go as planned for him, screaming after his shot and saying, “Waiting 30 minutes! This is pathetic professional golf!”

Don’t worry, Bubba, you won’t have to wait any more. You’re going home after missing the cut at 7-over.

Get That Thing Outta Here!

And lastly, in Fox Sports attempt to distract you from the fact that Curt Menefee and Joe Buck have no business being in the broadcast booth this week for the U.S. Open, they are trying their best to annoy the living hell out of the golfers with their drone cameras. Here’s Phil Mickelson sharing his opinion of the cameras:

There you go FIGJAM, next time hopefully you will break it.
