With the 2015 PGA Championship only just a week away, it’s time to look at which golfers could surprise the world, and take home the last major of the summer. Golf fans are anticipating a big performance from Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson, but there are a few hungry underdogs who have the potential to pull off the upset.

There were reports that Rory McIlroy, the defending champion, would try a practice round this Saturday in order to test his ankle, but those rumors were later denied by McIlroy’s publicists (per CBSSport). According to IrishGolfDesk, Terry Prone of the Communications Clinic said, “[McIlroy is] Not booked for such a round. Still going through the ankle rehab process.”
If McIlroy is unable to defend his title, the door would be wide open for an unexpected challenger to make a serious run.
