Matsuyama may be the most underrated young player in golf. He’s only 23 years old, and he’s tied for second in top-10 finishes with 8 this summer. He hasn’t won anything this year, but he did finish fifth at the 2015 Masters, which is the best major finish of his young career.
In 18 events this year, Matsuyama has only missed the cut once. At the very least, it’s a safe bet he will be in contention on the fourth day. He’s currently 16 in the FedEx Cup rankings, and 15 in the Official World Golf rankings.
Matsuyama has a real chance to break out, and state his case as one of the best up-and-coming players in the PGA.
