6. Rickie Fowler

Things quickly change in golf. If we did this list say after the 2013 PGA Championship, Rickie Fowler wouldn’t have been anywhere near this list.

Fowler never really earned the kind of hype he was receiving from fans and the media. And, to an extent, he still is overhyped. For example, he is not a part of the “new” big 3. He hasn’t done nearly enough to join Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.

  • However, he is dramatically improving and as we head into 2016 he is one of the better golfers without a major. Fowler made his mark in 2014 by finishing inside the top five at all four majors.

Only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods had done it at the time. As we all know, Jordan Spieth has since been added to the list now with his 2015 performance.

Fowler didn’t have a great 2015 or the kind of year folks were hoping to see from him at the majors, but he still had a high quality follow up season.

Fowler made some strides and is getting closer to winning that major championship in the future. Fowler broke through with a win at THE PLAYERS and Fowler took his talent across the pond and won at the Scottish Open.

The year isn’t over yet and Fowler could continue to bolster his resume with the FedEx Cup playoffs starting up next week, at the time of this article. Who knows. By the time most of you are reading this Fowler maybe the FedEx Cup champion of 2015.
