Just three PGA Tour events remain before Team USA Captain Jay Haas will announce his captain’s picks for the Presidents Cup–we’ve officially entered crunch time. Since we last checked in, the contenders for those two spots have played the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship, a pair of high-profile events with final leaderboards that should wield significant influence over the final decision.

Still, despite the volatility that could come with these big money events, the top ten on the Team USA points list has remained unchanged. If the qualifying period ended today, the automatic berths would still go to Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar and Chris Kirk (you can check out the points list right here). Notably, Kirk hasn’t teed it up since the U.S. Open due to a wrist injury, but he’ll return for the Barclays and have two tournaments to maintain his spot–or, if he’s ousted this week, to nudge his way back in.

As a result, the men who comprise my top ten potential captain’s picks are largely the same ones as last time, but the pecking order has been shaken up. Most significantly, we’ve got a new face in the number two spot, and one of the PGA Tour’s steadiest player is our latest addition.

Once again, I’ve determined this list based on both current form and season-long excellence, as well as a number of other, less important factors. Now, let’s go ten deep and take a look at the top players who currently lie outside of the Presidents Cup bubble. Each player’s Presidents Cup points rank is listed next to his name.
