The United States team will go into the 2015 Solheim Cup having lost the Cup to Europe in 2011 and again in 2013.  Team USA will be led by Captain Juli Inkster, herself a nine-time Solheim Cup Team USA member who was a playing assistant captain in 2011.  Inkster will be assisted by Pat Hurst and Wendy Ward.  Collectively, the United States management team will be bringing 17 years’ Solheim Cup experience to the 2015 edition. Inkster, Hurst and Ward face a huge task.  The Americans are intent on bringing the Cup home from St Leon Rot in September but they’re going into a highly partisan environment of European fans.  It’s going to be a tough situation that’s going to require thick skin and the kind of solid, unshakable trust long-time teammates tend to have in each other.

Inkster is fortunate to be leading a very experienced team.  With only one Solheim Cup rookie — Alison Lee — Team USA have collectively made 36 Solheim Cup appearances.  This is a team that’s worked together many times, who know each individual player’s strengths and weaknesses, and who are utterly focused on the victory.
