Despite being sidelined for the middle portion of the 2015 season with injuries, Michelle Wie earned her spot on Team USA and has assured Captain Inkster that she’s physically fit and ready to play. I hope so. Wie is a superb match play competitor.
Ranked 20th by Rolex, Wie showed extraordinary promise last year, with victories at the LOTTE Championship and the US Women’s Open. This year, however, she’s not managed to record even a top-10 finish.
Still, Wie’s 3-year Solheim experience and her 2-2-0 record in 2013, which involved taking MVP Caroline Hedwall to the 18th hole in their singles match, says all that needs to be said about Wie’s ability to dig deep and play for the win.
