It’s no surprise that Captain Carin Koch used one of her four wild cards to put Caroline Hedwall on Team Europe. Although she doesn’t have the depth of experience Paula Creamer brings to Team USA, in many respects Hedwall is Team Europe’s Creamer.
Like the majority of Team Europe’s players, Hedwall plays on both the LET and LPGA Tours. She’s playing her fourth year as a pro and although, like Creamer, she’s struggling through a bit of a slump, Hedwall has compiled an impressive record in both stroke play and match play competition – 8 stroke play wins across Tours and 2 stunning Solheim Cup performances.
In 2013 Hedwall was the only player on either team in Solheim history to win all her matches and put 5 points on the board. I’m certain Captain Koch is banking on team and fan energy to pull Hedwall out of her current slump and get her back to work.
