2015 Solheim Cup Team Europe (Video)
Azahara Munoz loves match play! There’s just no other way to put it. That may be because she tends to win matches and collect team points rather consistently.
Ranked 23rd by Rolex, Munoz plays on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours. Spanish Amateur champion in 2002 at the age of 14, Munoz is another teen phenom who’s grown up on the links and plays with the confidence of someone who was born with an 8 iron in her hand.
Going into this year’s Solheim Cup Munoz’s game is looking solid. She’s a fairly accurate ball striker and holds her own with the flat stick. She’s piled up six top-10 finishes and has looked particularly strong in her recent play.
Munoz, the 2010 LPGA Rookie of the Year, will be playing against familiar competitors in Germany. She defeated Angela Stanford in their 2011 Solheim Cup singles match and was defeated by Brittany Lang in 2013 at Colorado Golf Club.
If Captain Koch pairs Munoz with Carlota Ciganda I think the team will be unbeatable. The synergy that drove their team play last year at the International Crown was near-magical.
