Watson entered today tied for first place, and after another 18 holes, he now finds himself in sole possession of the lead. He wasn’t great today, shooting three strokes worse than day one, but his 68 was good enough to remain atop.

Watson has quietly had a pretty solid season, winning two PGA tour events and finishing in the top-five four times. Unfortunately, his success on the tour has not carried over into majors. In all our majors, he failed to crack the top 20: His best outing was at the PGA Championship where he finished T-21.
He may have struggled in majors, but this win would prove that Watson is still one of the best golfers in the world. If Watson does pull out the victory, he will be tied for second with Jason Day in PGA Tour wins this season.
