$7,900 to $7,500
As is usually the case the $7,000 dollar range has loads of golfers to choose from. There are so many to go through that we’ll break this one up into two parts. We’ll talk about the top half of the $7,000 range and in the next slide we’ll talk about the bottom half.
Right off the bat, I’m loving Justin Thomas ($7,900), and Tony Finau ($7,700). They both bomb it a long way and both make tons of birdies and eagles.
Thomas is 8th in eagles per hole and is 7th in birdie average on Tour. Plus, throw in the fact that he is 15th in distance, 18th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and you got yourself a really good looking pick on paper.
Finau is 7th in birdie average, 24th in scoring average, 29th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, and 8th in driving distance. Plus, Finau has just been extremely hot making the cut in nine of his last ten starts with six finishes inside the top sixteen.
If he can get over the hump this week and wins, look for everyone to start calling him Tony Phenom.
Keegan Bradley ($7,600) is an interesting pick. He hasn’t played well, but he typically plays well at courses he knows no matter how well or poor he is playing leading up.
Bradley missed the cut at THE PLAYERS, but still finished T-22 at the Byron Nelson. He missed the cut at The Open, but then followed it up with a T-17 at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
He comes in with a missed cut at The Barclays, but if history has told us anything it’s that he will bounce back this week. Bradley has played well at TPC Boston finishing T-16 in 2014 and 2013, and T-13 in 2012.
Danny Lee ($7,600) continues his hot play. Lee has made the cut in six of the last seven starts and has posted four top sixes in that time span and I got to believe he will be highly owned.
Russell Henley ($7,800) is another you might want to think about targeting. Henley had a poor finish at The Barclays, but aside from that he has been consistently good posting finishes of 5-20-17-12 and then that 72nd place finish last week.
Henley is playing well, but he also has played well at TPC Boston. Last year, he finished T-2 at the Deutsche Bank Championship and in 2013 he made the cut and finished T-62.
Patrick Reed ($7,800) hasn’t had stellar finishes, but he has been rock solid. Reed has made the cut in his last five starts and he has finished inside the top 30 in four of those starts. Another target that you might want to consider.
