Pat Perez Has Created a New Trend on TOUR and It’s Beautiful

With the likes of Jordan Spieth and Jason Day stealing the headlines almost every other week, it’s easy to lose focus on all of the other golfers playing on TOUR. There are plenty of guys on TOUR that provide us with stellar golf week in and week out, but believe it or not, some of the guys actually have a sense of humor.

More from PGA

Pat Perez is one of those guys and I think it’s time we start appreciating this man a little more.

On the course, Perez has held his TOUR card for 14 years and is currently is having one of the best seasons of his career. He’s 46th in the FedEx Cup standings, has 11 top 25 finishes in 2015, and he’s made the cut in 20 of the 24 events he’s entered this season. While he can get it done on the golf course, it’s his personality that makes him so likeable.

Pat is one of the most colorful characters on TOUR and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. (If you have the time, check out his interview with the Chive). The wonderful thing is that uses his personality to entertain his fans. Perez has one of the biggest presence on social media of any golfer out there.

You may have seen the campaign he started back in July #FindDannyAGirl. After getting his first career victory at the Greenbrier Classic, Danny Lee was asked about what he thought about winning in West Virginia.

"“It was just amazing. It’s phenomenal. It’s my fourth time playing here, and I liked it every single year. Only one wish I had was if I had a girlfriend, it wouldn’t be as lonely in the room.”"

Luckily, Danny had his good buddy Pat Perez. Perez used his social media game to try to find the newest winner on TOUR a lady friend.

Perez was messing with Danny Lee long before his first win, however. Pat resides in Arizona and Danny was in town for the Waste Management Phoenix Open back in February. The Super Bowl was in Phoenix the same weekend as the golf tournament and hotels were priced higher than usual. Not willing to pay for a room, Lee hit up his buddy to stay at his place.

It’s Perez’s most recent masterpiece that really has social media buzzing.

#YachtRock is a thing of beauty and it’s only a matter of time before it spreads like wildfire throughout the golfing community.

When he was working on the range with his swing coach Drew Steckel, they would take slow motion videos to analyze his swing and eventually started posting them to Instagram. After realizing he couldn’t just be posting boring slow-mo swing sequences, Perez decided to spice them up a little bit.

Taking his love of 80s rock music, he accompanied his slow-mo videos with some background music, thus creating one of the greatest trends to be introduced to the game of golf #YachtRock. Have a look for yourself:

He even gave America’s favorite bachelor his own #YachtRock treatment:

It has become custom for Perez to post his slow-mo classics every week at whatever tournament he may be at. It doesn’t hurt to accompany his videos with those luscious locks Patty has.

The younger generation of golf fans constantly stay connected using social media like Twitter and Instagram. Luckily they have a savior like Pat Perez to teach the kids a thing or two about the 80s.

If you aren’t already following Perez, then you’re truly missing out. Here’s how you can find him on Instagram and Twitter. You’re welcome in advance.
