  • Captain Juli Inkster gets extra kudos from me for her management of the United States team.  She was right there from the minute she was named 2015 Captain and decreed there would be “no whining” this year — and there wasn’t, not even when Alison Lee got the bad end of the stick with that ruling on the 17th during her early morning cleanup of her Saturday afternoon fourball match against Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull — right down to Paula Creamer’s final putt that secured the win.

Inkster was everything a team captain should be: energetic, forceful, aggressive when she needed to be, an active and vocal advocate for her team.  She didn’t hesitate to call Carin Koch and Annika Sorenstam on an infringement of the agreed-upon rule that restricted advice-giving to the team captains.  She had her team’s back every step along the path to their win.  She was never afraid to make the tough decisions and she didn’t look back once she’d set her course.
