LPGA Player of the Year: Five Who Could Challenge Inbee Park
Apr 5, 2015; Rancho Mirage, CA, USA; Brittany Lincicome (middle right) takes the leap into the pond with her father Tom Lincicome (right), fiance
Brittany Lincicome is heading into the Tour’s fall season with a mere 85 Player of the Year points. She’s trailing Inbee Park by whopping 158 points, and I wouldn’t bet any money on Lincicome, but it’s mathematically possible for her to get to the top of the list.
The 2015 ANA Inspiration champion certainly has the game in her bag to deliver a winning game, even though she didn’t take it out and put it to work in Germany at the Solheim Cup.
Lincicome’s a streaky player and she’s rather go fishing that put in time on the range or in the gym, but it’s within the range of possibility, if not probability, for her to collect the points she needs to have a late-season surge and pass Inbee Park. To do that Lincicome would have to win all six regular events and finish high at the Tour Championship, and Inbee would have to finish outside the top-10.
I’m not holding my breath on this one.
