Even though Stacy Lewis has held on to her 3rd spot in the Rolex Rankings with 11 top-10 finishes — just about half of the events she’s entered — her winless season — so far — has put her at a disadvantage in the competition for 2015 Player of the Year, an award she captured handily to cap off her splendid 2014 season.

  • Lewis is going into the fall events trailing Inbee Park by 111 points.  She would need to notch four victories — those wins she’s been chasing all year — and finish high in the other events in order to take home Player of the Year.

Of all the players chasing Inbee Park, Lydia Ko included, I think Stacy Lewis has the best chance of catching her.  Four of those top-10s have been closely contended runner-up finishes.

Lewis was playing strong, aggressive golf in Germany.  She’s going into the fall events ready to break through whatever it is that’s been holding her back, and if she breaks through early, at either the Sime Darby or the HannaBank, she could get transformed into a steam roller.
