Bounce Back Player of the Year
Danny Lee
The PGA TOUR stopped handing out the Comeback Player of the Year award in 2012 and replaced it with the PGA TOUR Courage Award. For tradition’s sake, I’m going to give out the PGN Bounce Back Player of the Year award. This year the honor goes to none other than Danny Lee.
Danny Lee played in 28 events in 2014, missing the cut in 15 of them and only finishing with three top 25s, one top 10, and a runner up. He must have found something to click in the offseason because he had a pleasant year on TOUR.
He was one of the 11 first-time winners this season, picking up his maiden at the Greenbrier Classic in a four-man playoff. In addition to his first win, Lee had a runner-up and two third place finishes. He also had eight top 10s and 13 top 25s, 10 more than he saw last year.
Danny’s season was stopped short in 2014 after failing to make it past the Deutsche Bank Championship in the playoffs. This year, he made it all the way to the TOUR Championship and tied for second.
Lee made $3,965,933 in 2015, which is $3 million more than he made in 2014 and good enough to rank him 13th in the money standings on TOUR.
With all this winning and money in his bank account, maybe it’s finally time Danny found a girl. Here’s what he had to say after his first win back in July, “My one wish is that I had a girlfriend. It wouldn’t be so lonely in my room.”
