Davis Love III Winning the Wyndham Championship

Davis Love III was eligible for the Champions Tour last year when he turned 50. Before the 2015 Wyndham Championship, DLIII’s last win came in 2008 at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic. 145 PGA TOUR events later, the 51-year-old found himself back in the winner’s circle.

  • Love finished with a total score of -17 and edged out Jason Gore by one shot to win the Wyndham for the third time in his career.

If you looked at the leaderboard, you might think it was 1999. Names like Jason Gore, Davis Love III, and even a Tiger Woods sighting, who was fighting for a FedEx Cup spot.

But it was Old Man Davis who fought his way to the top of the pack to win his first tournament in five and a half years. He became the third-oldest winner in PGA TOUR history with the victory.

DLIII’s win was refreshing to see in a season that has been run by the young guns. He gives hope to the older guys on TOUR that it’s possible to still find wins despite the 20-somethings running wild.

Love now has his plate full getting ready to captain Team USA in the 2016 Ryder Cup.
