2015-16 PGA Tour Frys.com Open Power Rankings

After such a long offseason the PGA Tour is back. It feels just like yesterday that Jason Day was winning the PGA Championship, Rickie Fowler had a great duel with Henrik Stenson at the Deutsche Bank Championship, and Jordan Spieth ended up hoisting the FedEx Cup trophy.

All jokes aside, the 2015-16 season does officially start this week at the Frys.com Open. For the second year in a row the course will be played on the North Course of Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.

Unfortunately, the defending champion, Sangmoon Bae, will not be able to defend his title as he has to serve his country for the next two years. It’s a tough deal, but we wish him all the best and hope things go as smooth as possible.

With that said, that is the kind of winner we have come to expect from the Frys.com Open since 2007. The quality, sometimes journeyman on golfer Tour that wins, but not the elite. Which brings me to the Frys.com Open power rankings this week.

Normally, the power rankings week in and week out are a scope of who’s hot coming in with a grain of who may potentially compete and win.

This week is going to be slightly different. This will just be tracking the big names that are playing and who played well at the end of last year. I wouldn’t use this as a fantasy guide or anything like that.

With that said, let’s talk about the Frys.com Open power rankings. You maybe surprised at just how strong the field is this year. It isn’t loaded, but this is much better than what we are typically used to seeing.

Brendan Steele

Brendan Steele was strong early in the season. He made the cut in his first 12 starts and finished inside the top 25 in half of those starts, including here at the Frys.com Open. Steele’s from the area and he’s the type of golfer that has won the Frys.com Open in the past.
