Chris Kirk–After sustaining a wrist injury in June and missing nearly two months, Kirk nearly fell out of the automatic qualifying bubble and probably wouldn’t have been in line for a captain’s pick. Now, having watched his performance last week, we can see why. Playing just twice over the first three days, Kirk lost a close fourball on Friday, but on Saturday, he and Jimmy Walker were defeated by Bae and Matsuyama, 6 and 5. His only consolation came on Sunday, when he beat Anirban Lahiri in a battle of winless players–although it was still vital to Team USA’s winning effort. Nobody expected much from Kirk, and he didn’t show much either. Grade: C-
