$9,700 to $9,100
Scott Piercy at $9.700? Nah. I know he’s from the area, he has played well here in the past, but I’m not going to pay a premium price for Scott Piercy.
Jason Bohn ($9,500) is playing well and has played well here at TPC Summerlin in the past. So, why am I personally fading him? Well, I have to change my answer because he is just way too expensive.
I don’t necessarily think Bohn will do horrible, I’m sure he’ll do fine, but at $9,500 the question is, do you think he will win? If you don’t think he will, you might want to skip out on him.
However, maybe you are constructing a safe lineup and don’t need him to win. Fair enough, go ahead and take him.
Bohn has missed one cut in his last eight tournaments, he’s coming off a T-3 at the Frys.com Open, and he has finished in the top ten in two of his last three tournaments at the Shriners Open.
Webb Simpson ($9,400) is kind of in that same category as J-Walk. They both have dominated here in the past (Simpson has finished 4-1-4 his last three appearances) but they are struggling. Walker isn’t playing well overall and Simpson just cannot putt.
As we’ve talked about, putting on these greens are easy, but will Simpson actually make enough of those putts? It’s tough to say. History says he will, his run of play lately says he won’t. Simpson might be worth putting some exposure on, but not a core play.
I like Patrick Rodgers ($9,200). He’s a young golfer with a lot of talent that is fully healthy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodgers pull off another top ten finish. The common thread is golfers that can score in bunches and Rodgers is that kind of golfer.
What we talked about for Grillo and Na applies to Brendan Steele ($9,100), as well. Steele led for three rounds, but had a very poor finish and dropped outside the top ten.
That has to be emotionally draining and frustrating for Steele. How will he respond and bounce back this week? We’ll have to see. I think he’ll be alright and at $9,100 that’s not breaking the bank to put in a couple of lineups with Steele in them.
