This is going to be random, but let me throw this here. I wish Hideki Matsuyama was playing. This originally attended to be a part of the first slide, but that was getting long, so I moved it down here.
Anyway, I feel that TPC Summerlin fit Matsuyama’s game perfectly. I believe Matsuyama would have won, or at the very least, be in contention on Sunday.
Matsuyama would have hit a ton of fairways and greens and made enough putts to be right in the thick of things.
Unfortunately, he isn’t so we have to move on. Anyway, onto the picks. I had to move Graham DeLaet ($7,900) down because he is cheaper than what I was expecting. Hey, I’m not complaining, this works for me.
DeLaet struggled on Sunday at the Frys.com Open, but aside from that DeLaet looked good and his putter was decent enough. DeLaet looks healthy and an easy course like TPC Summerlin is the kind of course DeLaet could win at.
Hudson Swafford ($7,400) is always one to consider. Swafford is a statistical darling on the PGA Tour, but hasn’t put it together consistently yet. That may start changing this year.
Swafford looked good putting together four quality rounds at the Frys.com Open as he finished in a tie for 17th. TPC Summerlin lines ups well for Swafford, let’s see if he can make it back-to-back weeks.
If you want to roll the dice I point you towards Ryo Ishikawa ($7,000). Ishikawa has finished 28-2 the last two times he has played at the Shriners Open.
Virtually everybody will be off Ishikawa because of his poor showing in Napa last week, so this might be a good time to buy low.
