LPGA: Toto Japan Classic Five Top Seeds
Yani Tseng has been looking better and better as summer eases into fall, beginning with that runner-up finish at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic last August.
Sure, the former world number 1 missed the cut at The Evian, but then she kicked into gear as the Tour’s fall Asian Swing unfolded. There was that solo 5th at the Sime Darby and then another runner-up at the HanaBank.
I thought Tseng would make her move in Taiwan but she started spraying balls all over the place again. Maybe playing at home just had too many expectations attached. But here she is, going into the final event in Asia with a drive that consistently puts her out in front and a putter that’s working very nicely.
If Yani can manage to stay in the short grass — the rough at Kintetsu Kashikojima is just loaded with trouble — I think she has the game to come out on top before the Tour heads for home.
