Your hands are the connection between your club and your body — check the connection.

Thirty seconds into this process I have most of the pieces in place.  My ball is ready to do its part.  My club face is in position and ready to do its part.  My feet and shoulders are lined up and ready to do their part.  All I need to do at this point is connect everything and that job is assigned to my hands.

I know how to grip my club.  We all know how to grip our clubs.  Each of us has some quirky little variation and I concluded long ago that there is no single correct gripping technique.

For me, I know from long experience that my strong right arm is going to overpower my weaker left arm and send my ball way off into the left rough if I don’t set up some safeguards right now, so I check to make sure my left hand is on the upper side of my grip.

I usually need to slide my right hand a little further under the shaft at this point.  It’s a quick, simple adjustment for me.  It’s all in the feel.
