Briefly sink your forward foot and body weight into the earth.

I’m almost ready to swing my club but I need to do one more thing: set my anchor, my left (forward) foot.

As I prepare to start my swing I glance up from the ball (but not forward – I do not rotate my head) and focus my mind on my left foot. I let my toes sink down through the sole of my left shoe. I can feel the grass. My toes sink into the sod, just like a little kid standing there barefooted. I push my foot down.  I can feel a tiny little weight shift.

Why is this little imperceptible movement important for me?  If I don’t set my anchor my body tends to forget where it’s weight is going to be at the conclusion of my swing.  It’s a muscle memory thing.

5 seconds.
