$8,900 to $8,000

This is a range that is good for mostly cash lineups. Someone like Brendon de Jonge ($8,600) that just plods along and grinds is perfect for this course and at this price.

Same with guys like Johnson Wagner ($8,400) and Rory Sabbatini ($8,200) they are just safe plays. They aren’t spectacular, but they just get the job done. They aren’t bad GPP plays by any means, but they are ideal for cash.

We’ve talked about it already, but you know you have a weak field when Jhonatthan Vegas is at $8,800. That’s eye-opening.

I know he’s playing well, he has two top tens in three tournaments, but it’s still Jhonatthan Vegas and that’s a lot of money. He’s not a bad play, but he is risky. GPP play all the way.

Another GPP play is Brian Harman ($8,500). On the surface he is a nice, safe, cash game play, but when you dig deeper, Harman has, surprisingly enough, missed the cut here the last two years.

Harman has the kind of game that is ideal, but it just hasn’t clicked for him for whatever reason.

I am banking that changes this year. Harman is two for three thus far in cuts made and he is coming off a T-7 finish at the CIMB Classic. I believe Harman makes for a nice little GPP play this week.

Jason Dufner ($8,100) should be the best play in this range, but his game is just off. Dufner still hasn’t quite found that elite form again. That’s another GPP play in this range to consider.
