$7,900 to $7,000

There’s a lot of interesting golfers in this range. A lot of variety. Everyone’s favorite Hudson Swafford ($7,300) has been playing well coming off a T-24 at the CIMB Classic.

It’s amazing how quickly things change. Jason Kokrak ($7,900) was on the verge of DFL territory hanging with Matt Every and Robert Allenby, but after a couple of good weeks he is back in a respectable price range.

Kokrak had a solid finish at the Shriners Open and followed that up with a T-12 at Sanderson Farms. I don’t fully endorse him this week, but I just wanted to point that out.

Brendon Todd ($7,700) is trending in the wrong direction. Todd finished T-26 to open the season at the Frys.com Open, and then played the Shriners Open.

Todd opened with a first round 65, but then shot an awful 77 to miss the cut. Todd played last week at the Sanderson Farms at he missed the cut shooting 71-74. That’s a bit concerning.

Todd isn’t long, but is strong all-around. He hits a lot of fairways, a lot of greens, and sinks a lot of putts, but him missing back-to-back cuts is worrisome.

Todd should bounce back in this spot and looks like a great value play on the surface, but I wouldn’t go all in on him, just in case.

I like Colt Knost ($7,400). He is just a nice, steady golfer. Knost doesn’t do anything spectacular, he just grinds away, makes some cuts, and picks up a paycheck.

Knost is three for three in cuts made this year and is coming off a T-37 at the CIMB Classic.

What has Knost done here in Mexico? Knost is three for three since 2011 finishing T-37 last year, T-3 in 2012, and T-29 in 2011. Knost is a quality play.

Jim Herman ($7,700) is an interesting pick, as well. He’ll have a handful of good tournaments in a year and he’ll typically do it for a couple of tournaments in a row.

Herman is coming off a T-10 at the CIMB Classic. If you are feeling lucky, maybe get some ‘Big’ Jim Herman action in your life.

Jerry Kelly has slowed down from his hot play to end the 2014-15 season, but he is still making cuts.

Kelly is two for two this year in cuts made and Kelly has made the cut in four of the last five years including a T-5 finish last year.

It’s kind of crazy to say, but I’d also consider Chez Reavie ($7,400) for cash, as well. Reavie has been steady for a while now. Reavie is two for two this year which includes a T-17 at the Frys.com Open.

He’s not a bad GPP play either he could potentially be in contention this week.

Last couple I’ll mention is Carlos Ortiz ($7,500) and Shawn Stefani ($7,000) as GPP plays.

Stefani is very much a high risk as he has not played well at all, but he could potentially turn it around this week. He finished second last year.

Ortiz is playing well, he is two for two in cuts made and he finished T-9 last year.
