Could China’s top player break out of the ranks and manage the double lift?  It’s possible but not likely.

Shanshan Feng is sitting in the 9th rank in Race to the CME Globe points, but I don’t actually view her as a viable contender for the Tour Championship.

  • Feng, who’s ranked 6th in the world by Rolex, has had a season very similar to Stacy Lewis’s — 12 top-10 finishes but no victories.

After her 3rd place finish at the Evian I was looking for Shanshan to break out during the Tour’s fall Asia Swing and for a brief moment that culminated with her runner up finish at the Sime Darby she almost did just that.  But things went a bit downhill and despite her solid 3rd place finish last week at the LET Sanya Ladies Open Feng still hasn’t been able to deliver that needed championship game.

We don’t see Feng teeing it up in Mexico City, so she’s going into the season’s final event after a 3-week layoff.  I’m not looking for a winning performance from Shanshan.
