LPGA: Top-10 Race to the CME Globe Contenders
Lexi Thompson is coming into the final event of the season hot. Will she do it one more time?
Thompson has had 2 victories and 10 additional top-10 finishes this year. Five of those top-10s and one of those victories have come in her last six starts.

I think playing with Cristie Kerr for Team USA at the Solheim Cup was transforming for Thompson. She learned from those three days with Kerr how to convert from competition to aggression.
Thompson has the game in her bag to plow right past the competition. She’s long and strong off the tee and despite some wobblies in her accuracy she leads the Tour in GIR.
In previous seasons Thompson’s weakness in her game has been her putting, but after her epiphany at the Evian that’s changing. She’s still averaging slightly more than 30 putts per round but she’s 4th on the Tour in scoring average — 69.92. She’s making clutch putts when the chips are down.
With a high finish in Mexico City Thompson could pick up a few more Race to the CME Globe points. With a win she could slide past Sei Young Kim, get into 4th place in in the Race and be in an even better place going into the Tour Championship.
Thompson is a fierce competitor and she’s playing with the advantage of a winner’s self-confidence. I see her as a viable contender for the Tour Championship and, depending on how Ko, Park and Lewis perform, as a likely winner of the Globe as well.
