It’s no surprise to see the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year coming into the Tour Championship in a lead position in the Race to the CME Globe  In fact, we saw this same scenario last year.

Sei Young Kim wrapped her ROY award with her Blue Bay victory, her 3rd rookie year win, and also matched Lydia Ko’s rookie year record.

  • It seems very reasonable to speculate on whether or not she’ll take that final step and complete the season-ending double lift.  That’s not at all out of the question.

Kim’s playing in the Lorena Ochoa and she’s as hot at Lexi Thompson, if not hotter.  With a win she could pass Stacy Lewis and be going into the Tour Championship right behind Inbee Park.

But despite her amazing capacity to play to the top of the board, I’m not looking for this Kim to move up any further.  She seems to follow a pattern — a big burst of championship golf, followed by several weeks of hanging back.  I think she had her peak at Blue Bay and we’re more likely to see her coasting through the end of the season, delivering a competent game but not challenging for the top of the leaderboard.
