The name of this week’s PGA Tour event may have changed, but the sponsor has actually stayed the same–just a couple of weeks ago, McGladrey LLP changed its name to RSM US. As a result, golf fans are left with the RSM Classic, which remains among the more well-liked stops on the schedule. The pleasant weather and laid-back atmosphere, along with a well-respected tournament host in Davis Love III, are great perks, and that’s to say nothing of the 500 FedEx Cup points that go to the winner.

A consistent storyline of this event is always the PGA Tour’s “Sea Island Mafia,” a group of players who make their homes on nearby St. Simons Island–it includes Love, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Harrs English, Lucas Glover and several others. It’s always interesting to keep tabs on how hometown players perform week to week.

Measuring just 7,055 yards, one need not be a long bomber to contend at Sea Island Golf Club. The list of past winners includes guys like Heath Slocum and Ben Crane, who wound up near the bottom of the PGA Tour’s driving distance statistic last year. However, as defending champ Robert Streb proved last year, an extra bit of oomph off the tee never hurts.

Without further ado, let’s go ten deep and check out some of the best bets for success at the RSM Classic. The field features a few premium names and some real up-and-comers, but this week’s top spot is occupied by a slightly more obscure name.
