Making golf better: 5 ways to improve golf and make it more enjoyable for the fans in 2016

The book on the 2015 golfing year, by all intents of purposes, came to a close this past week.

Rory McIlroy won the Race to Dubai, Lydia Ko was the Rolex Player of the Year on the LPGA Tour, and after a year of close calls Kevin Kisner finally hoisted that trophy at The RSM Classic.

The only event left is the Hero Challenge which is nothing more than an exhibition tournament.

So, now that the year is essentially over we can now take a look at 2015 as a whole and I got to say that it was a truly special year. Just about every tournament week in and week out was fantastic from the start and had a memorable finish.

We had many dramatic moments and worthy winners in the end and I believe when enough time passes historians will look back and mark 2015 as the start of the new era in golf.

The younger fans that have started watching golf regularly in thirty, forty years will be able to be bitter old folks and say things like, “Boy, back in my day that was the golden age of golf. These kids today couldn’t hold Jordan Spieth’s putter!”

We can continue to wax poetic about 2015 and how great it was, but for as great as golf was this year, it still has room to grow and be even better. I’ve got five ways to make golf better as a whole in 2016.

Now, let me be clear, the game itself is fine. I’m not interested in fixing a game that doesn’t need fixing.

I’m not going to propose making the cups bigger or have golfers race around in go-karts. Although, I do admit, seeing more of Bubba Watson’s hovercraft would be pretty cool.

What I’m more interested in is improving golf on the outside. Continuing to make golf better for the fans. You’ll see what I mean as we continue on. These are my ideas of making golf better in 2016.
