Henrik Stenson Tops Nedbank Golf Challenge Fantasy Picks
Louis Oosthuizen is looking to come back from two heartbreakers and reclaim the glory he found at St Andrews in 2000.
Louis Oosthuizen, like Martin Kaymer, hasn’t hoisted a trophy this year and it’s been five long years since his breathtaking victory at St Andrews when he hoisted the Claret Jug. Oosthuizen has made a recent career out of heartbreak finishes — behind Bubba Watson at the 2012 Masters; behind Jordan Spieth at the 2015 US Open and then again, behind Zach Johnson at The Open Championship.
Oosthuizen is a personable guy with a fine game in his bag who’s demonstrated a lot of grace under adverse circumstances. Is that game good enough to get him to the top of the board? It’s gotten him there twice this year, so the trick for Oosthuizen is going to be holding off the competition. His long game will serve him well, but he’s been soft in his play around the greens, so we’ll have to see if he’s been able to make the adjustments and tweaks he needs to stay in the mix.
I’m looking for him to do that. I think play on home soil may be just the antidote Oosthuizen needs to break the bridesmaid cycle.
