#1: J.B. Holmes and Patrick Reed, recently victorious in the Presidents Cup, have the potential to form a formidable duo.
This powerhouse pairing features a couple of recently prolific PGA Tour winners. Holmes has more experience at the Shootout–he and Kenny Perry finished second in 2009–but with an ongoing streak of five top 10s around the world, Reed is in better form. Together, they comprise one half of the four top 25 players in this week’s field.
In addition to good play, this team promises to deliver some thrilling moments. Thanks to his booming drives, Holmes is an endlessly fascinating player in a scramble or alternate shot. He proved his worth as a teammate with a strong performance with Bubba Watson at the Presidents Cup last month. With the fiery Reed in on it, this pairing could run the table.
