The 2005 British Open marked Tiger Woods’ 10th major victory of his career and second Open Championship victory. He won the tournament by five shots over Colin Montgomerie.

Woods won with a wire-to-wire finish to help complete his second career Grand Slam, joining Jack Nicklaus as the only other person to do so. He also became just the second player in the history of golf to win two Open Championships at the Home of Golf, St Andrews.

Big Cat took a one-shot lead in the first round with an opening 66 and never looked back. He followed up with a 67 on Friday and then cruised to victory with a 71 and 70 on the weekend.

Even more remarkable is Tiger’s dominance came while he was in the midst of a new swing change with Hank Haney. He also picked up the major win with much of the gallery rooting against him. Montgomerie was the crowd favorite, but Woods was able to overcome the odds to take the throne at The Old Course.
