8. 2000 British Open

This was the first Open Championship Tiger Woods won and helped him completed the career Grand Slam, becoming just the fifth golfer ever to do so.

Woods didn’t just win the 2000 British Open; he dominated it. Tiger won by eight strokes better than the second-place finishers Thomas Bjorn and Ernie Els. He also won by a total score of 19-under, which was the lowest 72-hole score in major history until Jason Day broke it this year.

You wouldn’t think this was a historic major for Woods by the start of his first round. He only carded eight consecutive pars, but slowly got things going. He finished -5 to sit comfortably in second place.

By the second round, Tiger was running away with the 129th Open Championship and finished with rounds of 66-67-69. It was done in vintage Tiger fashion as it was the peak of his career. No one could come close to competing with him during this time, and the 2000 British Open is proof of that.
