Tiger Woods: 30 Best Wins of His Career
By Matt Cochran
3. 2000 U.S. Open
In one of his most dominating major performance, Woods won the 2000 U.S. Open by a record-setting 15 strokes. It was the first U.S. Open win of his career. The defending champion was Payne Stewart, who died in a plane crash earlier that year.
Woods’ rounds consisted of 65-69-71-67 for an incredible score of 12-under. What makes his score so amazing is because no other golfer in the field shot under par. The next closest golfers were Miguel Angel Jimenez and Ernie Els at +3.
His stroke total of 272 tied what was the lowest U.S. Open, and his 15-stroke win margin is still the largest margin of victory in a major. To top things off, Eldrick pulled off this dominant showing at the beautiful Pebble Beach. It will be remembered as one of the greatest major victories of all time.
