Tiger Woods: 30 Best Wins of His Career
By Matt Cochran
24. 2012 Memorial Tournament
Following the scandal, Woods didn’t get his first win until the 2012 Arnold Palmer Invitational to end his nearly three-year winless drought. That win was the monkey off his back, but it was the 2012 Memorial Tournament that was a defining moment for the rebirth of his career.
Woods hit another rough stretch after winning at Bay Hill, bringing out more critics that thought maybe his victory was just a fluke. He tied for 40th at the Masters that year, missed the cut at Quail Hollow, and tied for 40th at The PLAYERS Championship. However, he returned to prime form at Muirfield Village for the Memorial.
He cruised to victory at the API, but fans still had questions about whether or not he was back or if that win was just lucky. The win at the 2012 Memorial was the moment everyone was waiting for. It was his “I’m back” victory.
Tiger won the event hosted by Jack Nicklaus to tie Jack for most career wins on the PGA TOUR. It was also the fifth tournament he’s won five or more times.
