We should all be delighted that Melissa Reid finally found the formula for silencing her personal demons and got back to the golf course. The 2015 Solheim Cup marked Reid’s turning point although I’d been seeing signs all year that she was ready to start knocking on the door again.
While her 2015 victory at the Turkish Airlines Open – quite a stunning exhibition of golf power – came before she played her heart out in Germany, it was at the German performance that Reid, herself, found redemption, and I’m so very pleased that she has.
Reid also acquitted herself very nicely last week in Japan. She was one of the few truly bright spots on the European team at The Queens.
Look for this long, powerful ball striker to get in the mix early at the Emirates and make a charge for the top of the board. If Shanshan hopes to make it a three-peat she’s going to have to outplay Melissa Reid, and I think Reid’s the more powerful golfer.
